Document integrity and trust in a certificate are separate checks. A signature can be intact even when its issuer is absent from the trusted list in use.

Each signer and nested signature layer is listed separately. Details include the issuer, certificate validity period and any date claimed by the signer.

Each certificate has its own revocation result, which may be unavailable, including offline. Countersignatures remain unverified. A claimed date is not a trusted timestamp. The list’s date identifies the trust information used.

Downloads preserve the original content’s bytes. No new signature is created and the document is not rewritten. If content is detached or encrypted, the reader explains why it cannot display a complete document.

Frequently asked questions

Opening and checking a signed document

What is certificate revocation?

It is the issuer cancelling a certificate before it expires, for example after a key compromise. The reader consults OCSP or CRL evidence and checks its authenticity and freshness. Your document is never sent; if the service does not respond, the check is unavailable. The check is included for everyone, including the free preview.

How do I open a P7M received by PEC (Italian certified email)?

PEC is Italy’s certified email service. Select or drop the .p7m attachment. Your browser extracts the original; if it is a PDF, you can view every page and download it.

Is my document uploaded to a server?

No. Reading and verification take place in your browser. Revocation checks exchange technical certificate identifiers with the service, never your document or its name.

Does a P7M always become a PDF?

No. The original is extracted. FatturaPA, Italy’s electronic invoice format, also has a readable PDF copy; other XML and Word documents keep their original format.

What does “Valid signature” mean?

The indicated document integrity, certificate and trust-chain checks passed. Revocation is reported separately and may be unavailable. A date claimed by the signer does not establish past validity, and the result does not promise legal validity.

Can I open a file with multiple signatures?

Yes. Signers and nested layers remain separate. Countersignatures are reported as unverified.

Do I need an account or payment card?

Not to read or check a signature: the full preview is free and needs no account. Exports require a license, purchased through Stripe.

What is the file-size limit?

Up to 100 MB, with a warning above 50 MB. Processing time depends on the document and your device.

Does the site keep my document?

Never on the server or in the offline cache. During payment only, the browser keeps a local copy for 30 minutes and removes it on restoration or your next visit if expired.
